Can you deliberately be happy?

With confidence often comes a sense of happiness... or perhaps contentment is more accurate.  Yesterday I enjoyed listening to Matthew Parris on Radio 4 discussing happiness.  If you missed it, it's definitely worth half an hour of your time.  The key point I drew from the discussion is towards the end... once you start to analyse whether you are happy or not, you stop being so.

Is that the same for confidence I wonder?  Any thoughts do share them.

Meanwhile "don't worry, be happy".
